Web designer for businesses worth a second look

The kind of website people send to a friend.

I'm Yohannes. I design sites that move when you do: coffee that pours as you scroll, a car that tints itself, a house you can walk through before the showing.

Thirteen sites, all running live on this page.

Selected work

Don't take a screenshot's word for it.

Every project below is the real site, running inside this page. Scroll past one and it scrolls with you. Step inside to tap things, try the forms and switch to phone view. You won't be sent anywhere else.

Redesign conceptCoffee shop · Mechanicsville, VA

The Local Cup

A neighbourhood coffee shop told in three verbs. Grind, pour, sip: the page plays the shop's own brand film one frame at a time as you scroll, so the coffee moves at the speed of your thumb.

  • Scroll-scrubbed film
  • Menu & ordering
  • Brand-led type
Step inside

Redesign conceptWindow tint · Glen Allen, VA

The Tint Doctor

Every tint job starts as a plan, so the page does too. A wireframe car rises from the floor, takes its paint and its glass, and then the film sweeps down the windows while you scroll.

  • Real-time 3D
  • Scroll storytelling
  • Live price list

Unofficial redesign conceptIndustrial · Data-centre power

Hyper

Switchgear is hard to make exciting. Here the manufacturing line runs as you scroll, giant type sits behind the hardware, and the company's challenge coins flip over in your hand.

  • Scroll-driven video
  • Brand system
  • Interactive coins

Redesign conceptRoller rink, since 1962 · Ashland, VA

Ashland Skateland

A rink people have grown up at for sixty years had a website of neon text on black. This one keeps the neon and adds the place: start outside under the sign at dusk and scroll your way in.

  • Scroll-scrubbed hero
  • Party booking
  • Neon brand

Built for TeddyMobile locksmith · DC · Maryland · Virginia

Teddy Locksmith

Most of Teddy's customers speak Amharic, so the site does too. Keys and locks made of light reshape as you scroll, and you can pick a time slot instead of waiting on hold.

  • 3D particles
  • Bilingual EN / አማርኛ
  • Online booking
Step inside

Redesign conceptEthiopian café · Jackson Ward, Richmond

Buna Kurs

An Ethiopian café whose domain had gone quiet. Their dining hall plays edge to edge, the gold diamond pattern carries through the page, and the menu reads like you've already sat down.

  • Video-led
  • Menu
  • Events & coffee ceremony
Step inside

Spec siteRealtor · Maryland & Virginia

Adonay The Realtor

A realtor who walks every home on camera before you see it. His own footage runs full screen, so the first thing a buyer feels is the front door opening.

  • Full-bleed video
  • Personal brand
  • Lead capture
Step inside

Spec siteReal estate · Arlington, VA

Dealing DMV

A $2.3M new build in Arlington, organised the way you'd actually walk it: floor by floor, so buyers know the layout before the showing.

  • Listing story
  • Floor-by-floor
  • Gallery layout
Step inside

Listing conceptReal estate · Luxury home

Aurelia Residence

A family home with an indoor pool, a sport court and a private theater, toured from a single 4K walk-through that moves only when you scroll, naming each room as you reach it.

  • Room-by-room tour
  • 4K video
  • Private viewing
Step inside

Listing conceptReal estate · City apartment

Residence 7C

A furnished one-bedroom with corner city views. Light, calm and quick to read, with a scroll-driven room-by-room tour and a viewing request one tap away.

  • Video tour
  • Mobile-first
  • Viewing requests
Step inside

Spec siteTint & remote start · Mechanicsville, VA

UltraViolet Tint

Same 3D engine as The Tint Doctor, rebuilt with a different soul: purple and green, remote starts on the menu, and a 5.0-star reputation up front.

  • Real-time 3D
  • Pricing toggle
  • Rebrand of an engine
Step inside

Book siteAuthor · Picture book

I Love You More

A watercolour picture book about a love that keeps growing. The site is soft on purpose: handwritten type, warm paper and nothing that hurries you.

  • Author site
  • Illustration-led
  • Gentle motion
Step inside

Product · web appFitness · Installable app

Forge

A strength and nutrition tracker that installs to your phone like an app. A twenty-second setup works out your targets, then meals and lifts take a couple of taps each.

  • Web app (PWA)
  • Onboarding
  • Data & charts

Some of these began as unsolicited redesigns for businesses I admire. They aren't affiliated with or endorsed by those businesses; I made them to show what their websites could feel like.

Approach

A website should feel like walking in.

  1. I study the place first.

Before any layout, I go through your photos, your footage, your reviews and the words your customers use about you. The design comes from there, not from a template.

  2. One thing that moves.

Each site gets a single signature idea: a pour, a tint sweep, a key taking shape. Enough to be remembered, never so much that it gets between a customer and your phone number.

  3. Fast, findable, phone-first.

Lean code, carefully compressed video, proper headings and the search basics done right. Most of your visitors are on a phone, often in a parking lot. I design for them first.

  4. Yours to keep.

You get every file, hosting set up and a short guide to changing your prices, hours and photos yourself.

About

Hi, I'm Yohannes.

Most of the businesses I admire are better in person than they are online: the coffee, the craftsmanship, the person behind the counter who remembers your order. My work is closing that gap.

I see every site through myself, from the first sketch to launch day, so the idea you liked at the start is still there when it goes live. If you can describe how it feels to walk into your place, I can usually make a homepage feel the same way.

Based in Virginia, working with businesses anywhere.
